Buying with GoBid gives you transparent, competitive bidding, a nationwide selection of vehicles, and the ability to view vehicles in person before you bid.
How do I buy an accident vehicle at GoBid and fix it?▼
Accident-damaged (Code 3) vehicles can be bought and repaired for road use once a Police Clearance and Roadworthy have been obtained — see our registration documents FAQ for the full process.
What is bidding?▼
Bidding is placing an offer against other buyers for a vehicle. The highest bid at the end of the auction, provided it meets the reserve, wins the vehicle.

A Live Auction is the sale of many vehicles packed as "Lots". Each Lot is sold in number order, one by one, on the same day.

Timed Auctions are the sale of individual vehicles over a few days. New stock is added daily.
Do you have any auction tips?▼
View the vehicle before you bid, set yourself a maximum budget using the Bid Calculator, and avoid bidding at the last second as auctions extend automatically based on recent bidding activity.
How do I Register on auction?▼
Sign Up on our website, confirm your email, then check your Registration Status to see what steps (KYC documents, deposit) you still need to complete before you can bid.
How do I pay for a vehicle?▼
You can pay by Internet Banking, Cellphone Banking, Bank Transfer or ATM Transfer, always using your CST number as the payment reference. Cash payments are accepted but carry a 2% handling fee.
How do I get my registration documents?▼
Included in our document handling fee, is the change of ownership. GoBid does not pay for licensing, Roadworthy's or Clearances if required.
Code 2: GoBid will complete Change of Ownership for you within 7 days of final payment and email you an RC2. Take the RC2 with your identity document and proof of Address to the licensing office to print out your original NaTIS paper (green RC1).
Code 3: If you purchase a Code 3 to repair/build up and use on the road, you must first repair your vehicle and get a Police Clearance. Licensing will reject change of ownership on Code 3 vehicles, unless the vehicle has been cleared on their system. When you are ready to do this, please request a copy of the papers for you to do the clearance. Then take the clearance to the licensing office to lift the clearance status and send a copy to natis@gobid.co.za. GoBid will not give out original copies of registration documents pending a clearance. If you are a motor dealer, you can request a copy of the registration documents to show your potential buyers. Your buyer can then buy the car from you, repair it and do the clearance, and then the same process will follow. Once we have changed ownership, you will have to do a Roadworthy as well in order to get a license disc. This is for your account.
If you have bought a Code 3 for stripping, please complete the Code 3A Affidavit you received with your Tax Invoice. We will deregister the vehicle and keep the registration paper. You can use the Code 3A Affidavit for your records.
